Public Utilities Specialist

Incumbent is responsible for energy accounting functions. Duties include developing and implementing procedures for reconciling the UGP's schedules and actual meter readings to those of other entities, verifying data used to compile inadvertent accounting which is then submitted to the customer for concurrence, reviewing and assuring accuracy of power accounting data. Duties also include providing assistance on the market and transmission settlement program operations, comparing contract provisions with amounts scheduled, interchange balances, and power accounting information to assure that contracts reflect current conditions and performing special studies. You must meet all the qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement. At the GS-9 level:
In addition to Specialized experience required at the GS-7 level, experience with accounting billing processes and general knowledge of interconnected power systems. At the GS-11 level in addition to requirements at the GS-9 level, experience with interconnected system operation criteria and control area concepts. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
