Supervisory Power System Dispatcher

The duties include program direction and supervision, as well as providing technical support to the applicable power system function. The Supervisory Power System Dispatcher is responsible for the execution and coordination of power system dispatching activities. Through the applicable power system dispatch staff, the incumbent executes the activities of the function. The activities include a combination of some of the following:
scheduling generation to meet load; maintaining system frequency; activating contingency resources; administering OASIS and energy tagging programs; monitoring system voltages and power flows; reacting to changing system configurations; maintaining system security and reliability; switching activities related to forced outages, clearances, hot-line orders, general switching ,special work permits, and authorizations to work; and the safety and coordination requirements thereof. The incumbent is responsible for meeting applicable NERC Standards; FERC Orders; applicable RTO and DOE/Western policies, procedures, and guidelines. Professional experience utilizing a high degree of theoretical and practical knowledge of power system operation and equipment to be considered a subject matter expert. Professional experience requiring power system maintenance activities, maintenance structure, and organizational relationships between Power Operations and Maintenance. Proficient in reading and interpreting detailed technical documents, diagrams, and schematics. Experience using investigative techniques related to the operations of the Bulk Electric system (BES) facilities. Working experience with applicable NERC Standards; FERC Orders, reserve group bylaws and procedures.
